In an article on the 2016 sales tax holiday sales, WABE referenced data from the Georgia Tax Expenditure Report for FY 2017, which was completed by associates at the Fiscal Research Center. In 2015, the data concludes, the state lost $42 million in tax revenue.
Carolyn Bourdeaux, associate director of the Fiscal Research Center, was interviewed by the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution regarding redevelopment of the old GM site in Doraville.
Specifically, Bourdeaux commented on the possibility of tax breaks for the site’s redevelopment in the event that DeKalb County school system does not want to participate in a tax allocation district to finance the project.
