Peter Bluestone, a senior research associate with the Fiscal Research Center, was interviewed by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution on what Fulton and DeKalb county citizens will truly pay if sales taxes for MARTA were increased from 1 percent to 1.5 percent
If you consider the 1 percent MARTA those persons already pay, it would be about $153 total, according to Bluestone’s research.
The figure are based on a 2012 study that looked at the potential impact of a 1 percent Transportation Special Purpose Local Open Sales Tax, or TSPLOST.
