Lakshmi Pandey, a senior researcher with the Fiscal Research Center, was interviewed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution regarding new Census estimates for metro-Atlanta.
The estimates show that about 420,000 additional people moved to metro-Atlanta since 2000, increasing the regions’s population to 5.7 million and keeping it among the fastest growing areas in the nation.
Part of the reason for the increase can be attributed to job seekers, said Pandey.
“Migration to Atlanta was pretty much minimal during the recession because people didn’t think there were jobs, but after the recession, it has gone up,” he was quoted as saying.
