A new governor, new legislators and a flurry of activity begins this week for Georgia’s 2019 legislative session. Sworn into office Monday, Gov. Brian Kemp will give his first State of the State on Thursday (Jan. 17).
With unemployment being low and personal income being up, the new administration enters a time of a relatively positive outlook. But, according to the Fiscal Research Director Ken Heaghney, rising interest rates could be of concern.
Other trends to watch, include federal fiscal policies (which could see the positive effects of greater spending start to diminish) and the impact of tax reform implementation. Read the 2019 economic landscape on the Fiscal Research Center website.
In addition, FRC has prepared its annual go-to guides to help you navigate the session: the 2019 tax handbook and the Georgia rankings report.
